There are many of us who agree completely with your assessment and the phrasing of your reminders. Keep up the good work.

As Peter Senge wrote in The Fifth Discipline, focus, timing, and community are key elements in thinking and acting strategically. Your “reminder” phrases spark recognition in my consciousness of the importance of being aware and mindful of these three elements.

Right again, Mike. Our attention, our consciousness can deal with only so much. In a time like this, we have a center to cling to: the Constitution. This is the very center that a President swears to uphold. Keeping that in mind it’s easier to see clearly how this President & his enablers are trying to change realty.

We have to remember too that, for many reasons, too many people aren’t able to think & see beyond the present to grasp what this attempt at realty shift would mean to our society, how it would fundamentally change how we live & what we live with. That means that those of us who do think & see will have to carry the burden of holding the center. It’s risky & I often resent it, just like I often resent people voting for this possibility. It means that we have to basically help save millions from themselves when we might rather leave them to their own devices. But, the circle spreads wide, from our own families, for whom we want what’s best, to everyone if we are to survive as a democracy. So, we have to put resentment aside & stay focused on the center.

You've summarized exactly the dilemma.

Father? Why are you watching Dana Bash on CNN? You were very stern about her weak knees while some of us have body parts that don’t move in all the ways we’d wish them to.

I can’t with them ever since recognizing their logo is a heart monitor. They will be ginning up the apocalypse until the last.

Also, hasn’t congress decreed with the budget that one day shall not be one day until fkn October?!? Time doesn’t exist as we continue falling down the rabbit hole.

What is needed? Excellent research skills to use in real time on demand. The SIFT method is easily accessible for younger people. A bitch mom that narrates alongside of the incessant bullshit.

People with heart, given whatever time we have left on this planet.

To spend it being kind was another message you said was central.

What is the center? Is the eye of the storm? Center of the aisle? Shared consensus on what the scientific method of discovery is?

The gyre widens.

I think what you say is important, but I don't understand all of it because of the abbreviated style in which you write. Would you mind filling in some of the words for me, maybe a dummy?

I would never intend to confuse or condescend. Many of these statements are questions. I think fostering critical thinking skills and media literacy from an early age are two essential elements to remaining free. We do this by modeling and responding. I’ve tried to do this in the classroom and with my offspring. He’s a bright guy.

Here is a link about the SIFT method for evaluating sources during research.

It hasn’t been my personal focus parenting in the mundane, but he graduated with honors when a grown man sabotaged his education. Thank you for commenting on this episode of free association theater.

It's also hard because we have lives to lead, lives we've chosen. I don't want to be taken over by my concerns for American democracy, but I am. These last days, totally. I have to find a perspective that allows me to stay informed, participate, and yet have the energy and time to carry on with my already time-consuming projects.
